SBM Practice Management Resource Center Offers Seminar on Starting a Law Practice
12/5/07 The State Bar of Michigan Practice Management Resource Center will host a daylong seminar geared toward attorneys planning to start their own practices and lawyers with existing practices wanting to strengthen their management foundations. Titled “How to Start a Law Practice,” the event will take place on Friday, Jan. 11 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Lansing Community College West Campus, located at 5708 Cornerstone Drive in Lansing. Seminar highlights include presentations on financial basics and budgeting, organizational considerations of forming a law firm, forming and maintaining attorney-client relationships, marketing principles and strategies, records management, and hiring support staff. Vendors representing companies with products geared toward law practice management will also be on hand throughout the day. The registration fee of $90 includes the seminar, a lunch buffet, and an “Office in a Flash” flash drive containing useful tools and resources to help set up and run a law practice. Walk-in registrants on the day of the event are welcome, however, only those who have signed up before Thursday, Jan. 3 may partake in the buffet lunch.
