SBM Legal Milestone Plaque Honoring Prentiss Brown Placed in St. Ignace

11/7/07

State Bar of Michigan President Ron Keefe and Barbara Brown, vice chair of the Mackinac Bridge Authority, unveiled a plaque commemorating the role of attorney Prentiss M. Brown in the bridge's construction as part of an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the span's opening. A St. Ignace native, Prentiss Brown was appointed chair of the Mackinac Bridge Authority in 1950 and remained in that post until his death in 1973. The plaque is one of 32 across the state honoring important cases, events, and personalities in our state's rich legal history through the State Bar's Michigan Legal Milestone program.

Among those attending the Nov. 1 ceremony were (pictured left to right): Marilyn Keefe; Michael Ekdahl, Cheboygan County Bar Association secretary; Aaron Gauthier, Cheboygan County Bar Association president; Ron Keefe; Paul Strom, Delta County Bar Association member; Peter Strom, Delta County Bar Association president; Anthony Domiano, Cheboygan County Bar Association member; and Thomas North, member of the 50th Judicial Circuit Bar Association.
