Skate for Justice Event to Benefit ATJ Fund for Civil Legal Aid Programs
3/1/07

Students and alumni representing Michigan’s law schools will take the ice in Ann Arbor later this month to raise money to support civil legal services for low-income people in Michigan.

The annual Skate for Justice charity hockey tournament takes place Saturday, March 31 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, located at 2121 Oak Valley Drive in Ann Arbor, beginning at 2:45 p.m. The event supports the State Bar of Michigan’s Access to Justice Campaign. Access to Justice donations are received and managed by the Michigan State Bar Foundation with the net proceeds from this year’s Skate for Justice benefiting the ATJ Operations Fund to assist civil legal aid needs throughout the state.

Tournament games are scheduled at the following times:

  • 2:45 p.m.: Wayne State Law School vs. Detroit Mercy Law School
  • 3:45 p.m.: Michigan State College of Law vs. Michigan School of Law/Ave Maria
    School of Law
  • 4:45 p.m.: Third-place game
  • 5:45 p.m.: Justice Cup championship game.

A reception celebrating the efforts and involvement of all participants, organizers, and fans will take place following the championship game. Details will be announced the day of the tournament. Tickets are $5 each, and admission includes an opportunity to skate with the players following the event, time permitting. For ticket information, contact Geoff Talmon at (734) 904-9953 or via e-mail at SkateForJusticeTickets@umich.edu.
