SBM Young Lawyers Section, UDM School of Law Host Character and Fitness Panel Discussion
1/10/07

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will host a panel discussion on the character and fitness process Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The free event, which begins at 4 p.m. in room 126 of the UDM School of Law at 126 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, gives law students the opportunity to get a realistic view of the scrutiny they’ll face when applying for admission to the Bar.

“This panel discussion was designed to educate students on how to approach the character and fitness process,” said YLS Executive Council member Tim Gardner, who’ll moderate the forum.

Attorneys scheduled to participate in the panel discussion include:

  • Jeanine Jones, United States Attorneys Office
  • Thomas Hathaway, Brady Hathaway Brady & Bretz
  • Attorney Francis Ortiz, Dickinson Wright PLLC
  • Wendy Neeley, Attorney Grievance Commission

Students are encouraged to consult legal counsel immediately and disclose serious past conduct that may prevent them from receiving approval from the State Bar. Contact Tim Gardner at (313) 590-1634 or via e-mail at gardnerjr5@aol.com for more information.
