SBM President Keefe Throws Out First Pitch at Tigers Game
7/30/08
Nate Robertson was the starting pitcher for Detroit in the Tigers' July 25 game against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park, but State Bar of Michigan President Ronald D. Keefe, a guest at Thomas M. Cooley Law School's annual Tigers outing, had the distinction of throwing out the first pitch that night. Keefe's toss—a looping breaking ball that appeared to drop in for a strike—was caught by Detroit first base coach Andy Van Slyke.
Perhaps the Tigers should've inquired about Keefe's availability to pitch at the end of the game: the White Sox scored twice in the top of the ninth inning en route to a 6-5 victory.
