SBM Survey on Pro Bono

7/10/08

Summer greetings! As you may be aware through announcements in the Bar Journal, the State Bar of Michigan is conducting a brief online survey of its members regarding their views and practices of pro bono. Many Michigan lawyers already give generously of their time and funds for those in need. We ask you to give 10 to 20 minutes more by taking this survey to help us better understand pro bono views and practices in Michigan.

The online survey is designed so that you may complete it all at the same time or save your answers and return at another time to complete the survey. If you decide to complete the survey in parts, just refer back to this web page to access the link using the same computer on which you began the survey.

As a security measure, you will be asked for your P number when you access the survey. However, it is important to note that this survey will not be used in any way to track pro bono efforts on an individual level. Your P number and any identifying information will be separated from your answers by the Office of Survey Research at Michigan State University, which is conducting the survey, and will not appear in any reports or data given to the State Bar of Michigan.

If you believe that you have received this invitation by mistake, have any questions about this research, or have any difficulties accessing the online survey, please contact Jill Hardy, project manager, Office of Survey Research by calling (517) -353-1765.

My thanks go to the Michigan State Bar Foundation for their financial support for this survey and also to you for your helpful participation in it.

Sincerely,

Ronald D. Keefe
President
State Bar of Michigan
