Business Law Section's Small Business Forum Sponsors Government Assistance Seminar

10/15/08

The State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section's Small Business Forum is holding a seminar for small- and medium-sized business owners titled "It's Your Government and We're Here to Help—Really!" on Thursday, Nov. 6. The event will take place from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Columbia Center in Troy.

Representatives of governmental and quasi-governmental agencies will discuss with attendees resources available to Michigan's small- and medium-sized businesses including financial assistance, financing sources, tax incentives, trade missions, development of business plans, and counseling and trouble-shooting. Speakers scheduled to appear include:

  • Mark Adams, senior business development director for Oakland County Planning and Economic Development Services;
  • Tom Anderson, senior director of Automation Alley;
  • Chris Holman, small business advocate for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; and
  • Richard King, director of the Michigan Small Business Technology Center Region 9.

The Small Business Forum, which was established by the SBM Business Law Section in 2006, caters to entrepreneurs, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals who work with small- and medium-sized businesses.
