The State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section’s Small Business Forum is holding a seminar for small- and medium-sized business owners titled “It’s Your Government and We’re Here to Help – Really!” on Thursday, Nov. 6. The event will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Columbia Center in Troy.

Representatives of governmental and quasi-governmental agencies will discuss with attendees resources available to Michigan’s small- and medium-sized businesses including financial assistance, financing sources, tax incentives, trade missions, development of business plans, and counseling and trouble-shooting. Speakers scheduled to appear include:

  • Mark Adams, senior business development director for Oakland County Planning and Economic Development Services;
  • Tom Anderson, senior director of Automation Alley;
  • Chris Holman, small business advocate for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; and
  • Richard King, director of the Michigan Small Business Technology Center Region 9.

The cost to attend the forum is $25. Registration forms, which can be obtained from the SBM website at www.michbar.org/business/pdfs/SBF_YourGovt_seminar.pdf, must be received no later than Thursday, Oct. 30. Contact Cynthia Umphrey at cynthia.umphrey@kkue.com with questions.
