SBM Young Lawyers Section Seeks Volunteers for Back-to-School Barbecue

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section is looking for volunteers to assist with its third annual Back-to-School Barbecue on Saturday, August 16.

The event, which runs from noon to 3 p.m. at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries’ DeVos Center, offers food, games, and fun for K-12 students whose parents are incarcerated or living in local shelters. In addition to the barbeque, all kids in attendance will get a free backpack stocked with school supplies to make the 2008-09 academic year a success. Volunteers are needed to fill a variety of roles such as preparing food, serving meals, greeting and entertaining students, and stuffing backpacks.
