Equal Access Initiative Wins Corp! Magazine’s Diversity Champion Award

10/7/09

Corp! magazine has announced that the State Bar of Michigan Equal Access Initiative (EAI) is among the winners of its Diversity Champion Awards.

The EAI develops policies and programs for underserved populations as well as groups with special needs or people who face barriers to access to justice.

“The effective functioning of the legal system requires the respect of those it represents, and it must reflect society as a whole in order to truly engender that respect from all quarters,” said Gregory Conyers, who formerly headed the SBM’s Justice Initiatives division, and was recently named Director of Diversity.

Corp! magazine, billed as Michigan’s largest business magazine, also recognized Reginald Turner, a former SBM president and an attorney at Clark Hill, and Roland Hwang, a member of SBM’s Law-Related Education and Public Outreach Committee in the Diversity Business Leader category.
