The State Bar of Michigan Animal Law Section will conduct its annual symposium from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20 at the Michigan State University College of Law Castle Boardroom.
Symposium speakers will address a number of topics related to current issues in animal law. The purpose of the event is to educate attorneys, but paralegals, law students, and members of the general public are encouraged to attend. Highlights include:
- The legislator's perspective on animal law, featuring Reps. Pam Byrne and John Espinoza;
- A presentation on prosecuting dog fighting cases by Rajesh Prasad, Wayne County assistant prosecuting attorney;
- An overview of the current state of animal law by Michigan State University College of Law professor David Favre and University of Michigan Law School professor Joseph Vining; and
- An update on torts related to animal law by Julie Fershtman, secretary of the SBM Board of Commissioners.
