State Bar President-Elect Charles R. Toy invites Michigan lawyers to apply now for appointment to committees for the 2009-2010 bar year. Service on the committees is voluntary and occurs through an appointment process that begins with an application that must be filed by May 15.

"I encourage all Michigan lawyers to seriously consider applying for a committee appointment. There is a committee that addresses nearly every aspect of the justice system in Michigan, and we need diverse voices in each committee," Toy said.

Nearly 30 standing and special committees work to improve the administration of justice in Michigan by following the State Bar of Michigan’s strategic plan. Appointments for the 2009-2010 bar year are expected to be finalized by Sept. 1.
