State Bar's e-Journal Receives National Recognition

11/10/99

The State Bar of Michigan has received the 1999 Gold Circle Award for its daily electronic publication, the e-Journal. The prestigious Gold Circle Award is presented by the Communications Section of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and has consistently recognized excellence in association communications Ñ from public relations campaigns to publications, for more than 20 years.

The e-Journal is an e-mail publication sent every day to every member who provides the State Bar with an e-mail address. The e-Journal includes case summaries, ethics opinions, discipline reports, information on bar events and more. The mission of the e-Journal is to provide valuable information to members in a quick and easily accessible format. The e-Journal is provided to members as part of their member dues at no additional charge.

"The State Bar of Michigan is honored to be named a recipient of the Gold Circle award, highlighting our efforts at a time when information is a precious commodity," said D. Larkin Chenault, Executive Director. "Winning the award is not only a tremendous honor, but further validates our efforts to improve member services."

The ASAE has asked Deputy Executive Director Danial J. Kim to participate in their "Focus on Excellence" program, presented during ASAE's Management and Technology conference, December 6, in Indianapolis, IN. Kim, whose planning and dedication turned the concept of the e-Journal into a reality, oversees the publication's daily operation. Kim will be able to share details of the State Bar's e-Journal with other associations from around the country. "I'm looking forward to talking about how the e-Journal actively communicates with thousands of our members, provides valuable information and takes advantage of technology," Kim said.

To receive the e-Journal, go to www.michbar.org and submit your name and e-mail address as indicated.
