The State Bar of Michigan is now accepting nominations for the 26th annual Wade H. McCree, Jr. Awards.

The purpose of the McCree Awards competition is to accord statewide recognition to written materials and radio/television broadcasts published/aired between January 1, 1999 and December 31, 1999 that:

• Foster greater public understanding of the inherent values of our legal and judicial system;
• Inform and educate citizens as to the role of the law, the courts, law enforcement agencies, and the legal profession in today's society;
• Disclose practices and procedures in need of correction or improvement; or
• Encourage and promote legal and state legislative efforts to update and modernize our laws, courts and law enforcement agencies.

Any newspaper, wire service, news syndicate, magazine, radio station, television station, legal publication or network in Michigan or any of their employees is eligible to enter the awards competition.

All entries should be postmarked no later than February, 15, 2000 and mailed to:
