SBM Welcomes Three to Executive Staff

The State Bar of Michigan has announced that three new attorneys have joined their executive staff as legal opinion editors for the State Bar's new e-Journal service. Caroline A. Gamble, Lucille Willis and Sharon M. Barnes will be responsible for providing brief case summaries of court opinions, organized by practice area, from the Michigan Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, the U.S. Sixth Circuit, Eastern and Western District and Bankruptcy Court to be distributed daily, via e-mail in the State Bar's e-Journal. These summaries will also be part of a special section of the Michigan Bar Journal called the "Green Sheets."

Gamble is a former associate of Allsopp, Kolka & Wackerly, P.C. in Bay City and a former law clerk with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors from Michigan State University in 1987 and her J.D. cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1991 where she served as an associate on the Law Review and received the Am Jur Award in Secured Transactions/Bankruptcy as well as certificates of merit in Labor Arbitration and Bankruptcy Workshop.

Before joining the State Bar, Willis served as a student attorney with the University of Detroit Mercy's Urban Law Clinic at Harper Woods Court and the University of Michigan's Family Law Project. She received her B.A. from Cleary College in 1991, her Masters from Eastern Michigan University in 1995 and her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1998.

Barnes formerly worked as an associate attorney with firms in East Lansing, Saginaw and Midland and as a sole practitioner before joining the State Bar. She also served as a part-time instructor for the Legal Assistant Program at Lansing Community College and was an adjunct professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she taught advocacy. She graduated from Lansing Community College with an Associates Degree as a legal assistant, received her B.A. from Michigan State University and her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School .
