State Bar Events

  • Law Day 2010: In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower designated May 1 as Law Day. This day is an opportunity to strengthen our great American heritage of liberty, justice, and equality under the law.

  • Michigan Legal Milestones: The Michigan Legal Milestone Program recognizes significant legal cases and personalities in Michigan’s history and uses bronze plaques, placed at featured sites, to relate the historical significance. Currently, there are 34 Legal Milestone plaques displayed across the state.

The State Bar’s 34th Michigan Legal Milestone commemorates the Vincent Chin case and reflects on its significance in our legal history. Chin’s beating death in 1982 in Highland Park, and the lenient sentences meted out to his assailants caused an outcry in the Asian American community and led to the birth of a civil and victims’ rights movement.

  • 2010 Annual Meeting: Together with ICLE’s Solo & Small Firm Institute on September 29-October 1, 2010, Amyway Grand Plaza/Devos Place.
