The State Bar of Michigan Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) is a member benefit and a public resource that assists members of the public who want to hire a lawyer and can afford to pay for legal services. Members of the public request referrals by calling our toll free number (800) 968-0738 or by submitting referral requests online. Two full-time lawyer referral service representatives respond to referral requests by phone during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you are an active member of the State Bar and in good standing, you are eligible to become a LRIS panel member and receive referrals. We welcome your participation, which serves as an opportunity for you to enhance your practice at a nominal fee.

Please review the LRIS rules (including the eligibility requirements and conditions of panel membership) before you apply. Mail the completed registration form, the $75 annual registration fee, and the required supporting documents to the State Bar of Michigan (ATTN: Finance Department), 306 Townsend St., Lansing, MI 48933-2012.
