REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL, FRIEND OF THE COURT MEDIATOR—The Friend of the Court for the 19th Judicial Circuit invites all interested providers to submit proposals for a one year contract to provide mediation services in domestic relations cases. Scope of the work. The 19th Judicial Circuit serves the counties of Benzie and Manistee. The court is responsible for adjudication of domestic relations cases that involve issues of child custody and parenting time. MCL 552.513 requires the office of the Friend of Court to provide mediation services to litigants in the cases. In the 19th Judicial Circuit these services provided by contract with outside service providers. Approximately 70 cases were submitted for mediation in 2007. Cases are submitted to the mediator through court orders. Qualifications. All mediators providing services to the court under this contract must meet the minimum qualifications for domestic relations mediators set forth in MCL 552.513 and Michigan Court Rule 3.216(G). Providers submitting proposals must supply accompanying documentation of their qualifications. Further information regarding qualifications may be obtained by calling the Friend of the Court at (231) 723-7242. Independent contractor. The successful proposal will be awarded a one year contract for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2008, and ending September 30, 2009. Mediator(s) will be independent contractors. Procedures for Replying to Box Numbers


    A box number service allows the advertiser to remain anonymous. This number replaces the advertiser’s name and address. Responses are mailed, unopened, to the advertiser on a daily basis or as they are received. Box number names will not be disclosed for any reason. Readers replying to box numbers who wish to protect their own identity should seal their reply in an envelope addressed to the box number, sealing that envelope in a larger envelope addressed to State Bar of Michigan, Advertising, with a list of whom you do not want the reply forwarded to. If the box holder is any one on that list your reply will be destroyed without notice.
