The 97th legislature will be sworn in on Wednesday, kicking-off a new legislative session. The Republicans maintain control of both chambers. The Senate remains nearly identical to last session, with only one member departing to be the Genesee County Clerk. The House has twenty-eight newly elected members (out of 110 members). Seventeen of the 148 legislators to be sworn in on Wednesday are lawyers.
