FOCUS: Governor Snyder’s Budget Recommendations for Fiscal Year 2013
Governor Snyder presented the FY 2013 Budget on February 9. His administration recommends a $48.2 billion budget, with $113 million going towards K-12 education, a 16% increase in funding of the Michigan State Police, and $119 million from the general fund for infrastructure repair.

FOCUS: President Obama Sends Fiscal Year 2013 Executive Budget to Congress: Proposed Increase in LSC
On February 13, the White House sent budget recommendations to Congress for Fiscal Year 2013. Recommendations include a total of $402 million in funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), an increase over last year. Previously, the funding for LSC was $348 million in Fiscal Year 2012.
