FOR YOUR CALENDAR: Forum on Wrongful Imprisonment at Birmingham Unitarian Church–March 21
You are invited to attend a forum on "Wrongful Imprisonment" being held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at the Birmingham Unitarian Church, 38651 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills. This event will feature Marla Mitchell-Cichon, co-director of the Thomas Cooley Law School Innocence Project. Also speaking will be Ken Wyniemko, a Michigan man assisted by the Cooley Innocence Project and determined by a court of law to be innocent after DNA testing. The public will learn what they can do to support HB 4790, the proposed wrongful imprisonment compensation act.

Agenda: SB 1046 Provide for mandated public employee contribution to employer-provider health care benefits; SB 1047 Provide for public employee access to health plan available to state employees; SJR P Allow legislature to regulate health benefits of public employees and officers; SB 1074 Require contracting and competitive bidding for food, custodial, and transportation services for public schools.

Agenda: HB 5745 Provide cap on damages exception if defendant falsifies medical records; HB 4970 Allow parent to sign waiver of claims of liability against a sponsor or organizer of children's athletic and recreational activities; HB 5034 Modify requirement for lawful reentry by landlord; HB 5783 Expand eligibility to postpone jury service of students to include full-time higher education students; HB 5819 Prohibit private court action against landfill for NREPA violations if DNRE is pursuing administrative action; HB 5854 Revise authority to set amount of civil fines for certain civil infractions.
