SB 1005 Criminal procedure; expunction; record expungement of certain DUI convictions; allow. Amends sec. 1 of 1965 PA 213 (MCL 780.621).

Of General Interest

SB 1009 Property tax; delinquent taxes; sunset on formation of tax foreclosure avoidance agreements; extend. Amends sec. 78q of 1893 PA 206 (MCL 211.78q).

SB 1010 Probate; trusts; duties of a trustee with respect to irrevocable life insurance trusts; exempt from prudent investor rule under certain conditions. Amends 1998 PA 386 (MCL 700.1101 - 700.8206) by adding sec. 1511a.

The Public Policy, Image and Identity Committee will be meeting on Friday, June 10, 2016 to make recommendations for the full Board of Commissioners on public policy items. The agenda can be found online. Members of the State Bar are invited to submit comments to Board of Commissioners on any of the items on the agenda. All comments received before the June 10 meeting will be shared with the Board.

The Family Law Section submitted a public policy position report on the following item:
Oppose: SB 0925 Children; adoption; advertise for, solicit, or recruit prospective adoptive or biological parents or guardians to participate in certain transfers of a child; prohibit under certain circumstances. Amends sec. 55, ch. X of 1939 PA 288 (MCL 710.55).

The Probate & Estate Planning Section submitted public policy position reports on the following items:
Support: HB 5503 Courts; jurisdiction; appellate review of certain court orders by probate court; preclude. Amends sec. 1303 of 1998 PA 386 (MCL 700.1303).

Support: HB 5504 Civil procedure; statute of limitations; limitations period under uniform fraudulent transfer act for action relating to qualified dispositions in trust act; modify. Amends secs. 1, 4 & 9 of 1998 PA 434 (MCL 566.31 et seq.).

Support: HB 5505 Probate; trusts; qualified dispositions in trust act; enact. Creates new act.
