Pro Hac Vice Transition

Out-of-state and foreign lawyers seeking to appear in a Michigan case or proceeding, whether before a court, administrative tribunal or agency, or arbitration proceeding, must comply with Michigan's pro hac vice rule, MCR 8.126. Effective May 1, 2016, pro hac vice applicants must submit an electronic copy of the motion and supporting documentation that will be filed with the court, administrative tribunal or agency, or arbitrator to the State Bar of Michigan at e.michbar.org.

Michigan Supreme Court’s order dated February 3, 2016, streamlined the process so that the State Bar of Michigan now handles the administrative part of the temporary admission process. For additional questions regarding this process see the State Bar of Michigan’s website Pro Hac Vice, send an e-mail to prohacvice@mail.michbar.org, or call the State Bar of Michigan at (517) 367-6426.
