Your Feedback Needed on Changes to Civil Discovery Rules

For more than a year, the State Bar of Michigan’s Civil Discovery Court Rule Review Special Committee, with the help of five subcommittees, has engaged in a detailed review of the Michigan civil discovery court rules. The goal is to modernize the rules, adopt best practices, and make discovery less onerous for improved efficiency in the judicial system and greater access to justice for all. With a broad cross-section of lawyers, judges, and court administrators from across the state, the committee has produced a draft report and proposed rules changes.

The committee seeks input from bar members on the proposal. Please e-mail your comments to by December 1. View the draft proposal.

The committee will take the feedback into consideration prior to submitting a finalized proposal to the Representative Assembly by March 10, 2018, for consideration at its April meeting.
