SBM Officers Elected for 2018-2019
Jennifer M. Grieco, of Birmingham, has been elected president of the State Bar of Michigan for the 2018-2019 bar year. She will be sworn in as president of the more than 45,000-member organization on Thursday, Sept. 27, during SBM NEXT Conference in Grand Rapids.
Also serving as officers for 2018-2019 will be President-Elect Dennis M. Barnes of Detroit, Vice President Robert J. Buchanan of Grand Rapids, Secretary Dana M. Warnez of Center Line, and Treasurer James W. Heath of Detroit.
Jennifer Grieco is a shareholder of Neuman Anderson Grieco McKenney, PC, and concentrates her practice in the area of complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage, and professional malpractice. Dennis M. Barnes is a member of Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker, PLLC, and concentrates his practice on complex business litigation, professional malpractice defense, insurance coverage, and alternative dispute resolution. Robert J. Buchanan is managing partner of Buchanan & Buchanan, PLC, and focuses his practice on negligence law, medical malpractice, automobile accident, wrongful death, catastrophic personal injury law, and civil litigation. Dana Warnez practices law with Schoenherr, Cahill & Warnez, PC, and concentrates her practice on probate and estate planning, real property law, and trust administration. James W. Heath serves as head of the Office of Inspector General, where he leads a team of investigators, auditors, and other professionals in an effort to root out fraud, abuse, corruption, and waste from City of Detroit departments and contracts.
Richard L. Cunningham of Detroit will be the 2018-2019 chair of the Representative Assembly, and Aaron V. Burrell of Detroit will be the vice chair. The Representative Assembly will elect a new clerk at its meeting in September. Richard Cunningham is chief of the Criminal Division of the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Aaron Burrell is an attorney with Dickinson Wright who focuses his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, appellate law, labor and employment law, and minority business enterprises.
