Legislative Action Last Week:
Summary of legislative action on all bills that the State Bar or sections of the State Bar have taken positions.
The H-4 substitute of SB 408 (Revised Judicature Act of 1961, Procedure for Granting New Trial) has passed both the House and Senate and was presented to the Governor for her signature on September 9. It is now Public Act 83.

Public Administrative Hearing Scheduled
The Michigan Supreme Court has scheduled a public administrative hearing for Wednesday, September 22, 2021. The agenda is available here. The hearing will be held via Zoom, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will end no later than 11:30 a.m.

Michigan Judiciary Launches Redesigned ‘One Court of Justice’ Website
The Michigan Supreme Court today launched the completely redesigned “One Court of Justice” website. With more than 10 million user visits each year, the site is a critical source of information to the public, the legal profession, and to the judiciary.

September 17 Board of Commissioners Public Policy Agenda
The SBM Board of Commissioners will be considering several public policy items at its September 17 meeting. The public policy agenda can be reviewed online. Members of the State Bar are invited to submit comments to the Board of Commissioners on any of the items on the agenda. All comments received before the meeting will be shared with the Board.

September 18 Representative Assembly Agenda
The Representative Assembly will be meeting on Saturday, September 18, 2021. The agenda is posted online. Members of the State Bar are invited to submit comments to Representative Assembly on the public policy items on the agenda, which are listed below:
