2018-2019 Dues Process Will Open Soon

This notice is to inform members that you will soon be able to complete your 2018-2019 dues renewal online. You will receive a separate email when the State Bar Member Area is open for payment of dues.

There are some important changes this year:

1) The mandatory disclosure and dues process will be online, where you can pay with a credit or debit card (VISA or MasterCard only), or with an e-check (ACH Network).  You can also pay by printing a remittance document and mailing it with a check after you have completed all of your disclosures and dues information online. You can no longer print an invoice, as all dues information must be submitted online.

2) Law firms and other entities paying the dues of more than one attorney by mailing a check will be instructed to ask their attorneys to log in to the State Bar Member Area and complete their disclosures and other information, select "Pay Your Dues by Mail," print a remittance document, and provide the remittance document to the firm administrator for processing and mailing with dues payment to the address provided.

3) You can sign up for text alert reminders by texting the message sbmdues to 74121. Once you're signed up, we will send a text letting you know it's time to pay dues, and send you reminders as needed up to the November 30 deadline.

4) Effective with the 2018-2019 fiscal year beginning October 1, 2018, the Michigan Supreme Court has increased the discipline portion of the annual dues by $15. Michigan Supreme Court Order No. 2017-1 ordered that discipline dues be increased to $120 in the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The changes for the 2018-2019 fiscal year will be reflected on the dues information web page.

Please look for an email from the State Bar in the next few days to complete your 2018-2019 dues renewal.
