We’re Here to Help

During these tumultuous times, we wanted to remind you that the State Bar of Michigan is here to serve as a resource for you. We have been responding to questions and providing updates on michbar.org, and we’re also sharing updates on social media, if you prefer to connect with us that way. We’re on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

We want to hear from you. What questions do you have about COVID-19 and its impact on Michigan lawyers? Please let us know here. We’ll keep updating our FAQs and working to get you answers.

Here are some recent updates:

• We have suspended meetings in our building for the duration of the crisis. Following the guidance of health officials on “social distancing,” we urge all meetings to be held over the phone or a video conferencing tool. We have resources about that available here.
• We are working closely with the Michigan Supreme Court and State Court Administrative Office to help you stay on top of court orders, especially those affecting scheduling and practice.
• We are completing the process of transitioning State Bar staff to working from home. We do not anticipate any disruption in our services.
• Several events involving the State Bar of Michigan or SBM sections have been cancelled or postponed. We are updating our events calendar with cancellations regularly.

In times of widespread disruption, the rule of law and the role of lawyers have added significance. Lawyers are masterful problem-solvers, and we are here to help you help others.
