Tax Pro Bono Program Training Webinar

Date: Tuesday, June 27, 2017
Time: Noon–1:30 p.m.
Register: Online

The Tax Pro Bono Program, a statewide partnership between the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Michigan and Pro Bono Initiative, will be conducting a training webinar on Tuesday, June 27, from Noon–1:30 p.m.

This training is excellent for attorneys who are new to the area of tax law or experienced attorneys looking for a refresher course, and will survey many of the most common tax issues that attorneys in our program will encounter. Specific topics include:

  • IRS notices (notice of intent to lien or levy; notice of deficiency)
  • IRS liens or levies
  • Collection alternatives (OIC, IA, CNC)
  • Innocent/injured spouse relief
  • ID theft and tax preparer fraud
  • Recovering back tax refunds (VITA sites)
  • Corresponding Michigan issues (Michigan collection alternatives)
  • Private collection agency actions

The training will be conducted by Professors Nicole Appleberry and Joshua Wease, directors at the U of M and MSU Tax Clinics, respectively.

Please RSVP in advance, if you have not done so already, so that training materials may be sent to you along with information for accessing the webinar. If you have not yet signed up to be a pro bono attorney in our program, you may participate in the webinar with the commitment that you will accept at least one pro bono referral.

If you are unsure whether we received your RSVP, please e-mail me first.

If you are unable to attend the training but would like to sign up to be part of the program, please sign up today.

A recording of the training will be made available following the webinar.

Sincerely,

Robert G. Mathis, J.D., M.P.A.
