Legislative Action Last Week:
Summary of legislative action on all bills that the State Bar or sections of the State Bar have taken positions.
HB 4222 (Revised Judicature Act of 1961, Circuit Court Judges & Court of Claims) passed the House on June 24 with a vote of 84 to 23. HB 4223 (Revised Judicature Act of 1961, Circuit Court Judges & Court of Claims) passed the House with a vote of 83 to 24. The bills now move onto the Senate.
SBM Position on HB 4222 and HB 4223: Support.

HB 4472 (The Michigan Penal Code, Embezzlement) was referred to the House Committee on Judiciary on June 22. It had previously been referred to the House Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors.
Elder Law & Disability Rights Section Position on HB 4472: Support.

HB 4640 (Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Act) was referred to the House Committee on Rules and Competitiveness on June 22.  It had previously been referred to the House Committee on Families, Children, and Seniors, and was reported out of committee without any amendments.
Family Law Section Position on HB 4640: Oppose.
