Cooley’s ATJ Clinic Gives People Second Chance

The Thomas M. Cooley Law School

WMU-Cooley Law School’s Access to Justice (ATJ) Clinic recently celebrated its 50th expungement victory. The ATJ Clinic provides representation to ex-offenders trying to clear their records of prior convictions they are legally entitled to expunge under Michigan law. A prior conviction, even if it occurred many years ago, can stand in the way of obtaining housing, education, and employment. The work of the ATJ Clinic has already given many people a second chance to pursue new opportunities that would have otherwise been barred by past mistakes.
