Face of Justice offers mentoring to Dearborn-area students

The State Bar of Michigan’s Face of Justice program expanded into Advanced Technology Academy in Dearborn last month, offering mentorship opportunities to about 20 high school students.

Face of Justice is a program that is designed to provide high school students in Michigan with a unique opportunity to interact with judges and attorneys in the legal profession. Organized by SBM’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, the event is modeled after programs developed by the National Association of Women Judges and is part of the State Bar of Michigan’s ongoing work to build and support a diverse pipeline of students entering the legal profession.

During the event, students participated in "jet-mentoring" sessions, where they could network with all the mentor attorneys and hear from both SBM President James W. Heath and Gregory P. Conyers, diversity development program director for the State Bar.

Heath thanked the students for their interest in the legal field and encouraged them to take a role in shaping the profession's future.

Face of Justice offers programs primarily to Michigan high schools, although it also expanded to law schools in Michigan in the fall. For more information on Face of Justice, visit michbar.org/faceofjustice.
