Please explain your job: I prosecute cold case sexual assaults. I started in Wayne County as a domestic violence prosecutor, specializing in aggravated stalking cases; then spent 8 years on the sexual assault kit task force, prosecuting cold case CSCs resulting from the testing of 11,000 sexual assault kits in Detroit Police property.

When you were younger, what did you dream of being?: A police officer. A teacher. At some point a princess who worked at McDonalds!

What is the one thing that best prepared you for a legal career?: Knowing my strengths.

Please explain your job: Working to maintain the integrity of the judiciary. Investigating requests regarding judicial misconduct. Completing thorough and extensive research to ensure that both judges and the community receive comprehensive investigations while making recommendations to the Commission.

When you were younger, what did you dream of being?: When I was younger I dreamt of becoming an attorney, this was always my destiny.

What is the one thing that best prepared you for a legal career?: The best thing that prepared me for my legal career was graduate school and the extensive study of the criminal justice system. It was important for me to work on my oratory skills throughout my collegiate years as well as enhancing critical thinking skills.

Please offer one piece of advice or motivation for high school students interested in the legal field: If you're interested in the legal field then determine your purpose and what you want your legacy to be in relationship to the law. Do you have a desire to serve the community, young people, protect victims, or uphold specific laws and legislation? Determine your passion through experiences and make sure it's what you want to do to ensure you will be fulfilled. There will be good days and bad days but your purpose will drive you!

Please explain your job: After working as a public defender handling indigent felony appeals for thirty years, I am now a sentence consultant working with retained and court-appointed attorneys to help them resolve their difficult sentencing questions.

What is the one thing that best prepared you for a legal career?: Keeping a journal. I learned how to express myself in writing and that made a world of difference in the law where good writing often distinguishes the good from the mediocre attorney.
