Applications now being accepted for MILS Board

Applications are now being accepted for the Michigan Indian Legal Services (MILS) Board of Trustees for one vacancy for the remainder of a term that expires on September 30, 2023.

MILS bylaws require that a majority of the board be American Indian. The board sets policy for a legal staff that provides specialized law services to Native American communities statewide, hires an executive director, is responsible for operating the corporation in compliance with applicable law and grant requirements, and setting funding priorities. Board members should have an understanding and appreciation for the unique legal problems faced by American Indians.

The MILS board meets on Saturdays, on a minimum quarterly basis, in Traverse City.

To apply, submit a resume and a letter outlining your background and nature of interest in the position by email to Marge Bossenbery at mbossenbery@michbar.org. The deadline to apply is January 5, 2023. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
