SBM launches survey to assess economic state of the legal profession

The State Bar of Michigan is asking all Michigan attorneys to participate in the 2023 Economics of Law Survey. Conducted every three years, the survey assesses the economic state of the legal profession, is used by courts to determine attorney fees, and helps identify economic disparities.

The survey takes just 5 minutes to complete. Participation from both private and non-private practice attorneys in all occupation areas from throughout the state is critically important to ensure the accuracy of the report, which is used every day by Michigan courts and others.

The survey is now open. Take the 2023 Economics of Law Survey today:

The survey is an important tool. It calculates county-by-county and statewide average billing rates and income for private and non-private practice attorneys in all occupation areas. The State Bar of Michigan last conducted an Economics of Law Survey in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic — making this year’s survey even more significant because it will help determine the impact of the pandemic.

Survey participants can enter a drawing for a chance to win a gift card. The State Bar of Michigan will give away two $500 Amazon gift cards and five $100 Amazon gift cards to survey participants. Take the survey today at michbar.org/survey for your best chance to win.
