State Bar of Michigan events inspire future legal professionals

The State Bar of Michigan recently hosted a series of events aimed at encouraging students to learn about career opportunities in the legal profession.

On March 28, pre-law students from Wayne State University visited the Hall of Justice in Lansing for Face of Justice. The event included tours of the Michigan Supreme Court and the Learning Center, followed by a jet mentoring session where 30 students engaged with more than 20 judges and attorneys.

On April 9, SBM participated in Olivet College’s Career Fair, connecting with over 100 liberal arts students and how they could be used to pursue legal careers. Staff also met with faculty advisors to explore future collaborations and discuss the growing demand for internships and experiential learning.

On April 10, over 60 high school students from three high schools gathered at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law met with 20 legal professional mentors for Preview Day. Students toured the law school, attended Q&A panels, and took part in jet mentoring with attorneys and judges.

The most recent event took place on April 11, when over 50 Wayne State University pre-law students visited Detroit’s 36th District Court as part of Face of Justice.
