State Bar of Michigan to hold special election for Judicial Tenure Commission seat

Voting begins Tuesday, July 1, 2025, for a special election conducted by the State Bar of Michigan to fill a partial term on the Judicial Tenure Commission. The partial term begins immediately after the election and ends on December 31, 2026.

Polls will close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Beginning July 1, Michigan attorneys will receive an email notification that the polls are open. The subject line will read: "Vote Now in the 2025 State Bar of Michigan Special Election – E-Ballot Enclosed."

The email will contain a direct link to the voting website and the ballot for the Judicial Tenure Commission race. (To avoid the email being filtered to a spam folder, add sbmelection@electionservicescorp.com to your contacts.)

The State Bar of Michigan typically holds one election each June. This year, however, a special election is required because a Judicial Tenure Commission member resigned in early June. A candidate is needed to fill his seat and serve out the remainder of his term.
