Deadline for license renewal is November 30

Time is running out for Michigan attorneys to complete their annual license renewal. License renewals, including mandatory disclosures and payment of fees, must be completed online or postmarked by November 30, 2025, to avoid a $50 late fee.  

To renew your license or to check on the status of your renewal, visit michbar.org/MemberArea. (Once you log in, your renewal status appears under your name.) 

State Bar of Michigan staff are available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Wednesday, November 26, to answer renewal questions at (517) 346-6300 or by emailing SBMforU@michbar.org.  

Online payment is accepted by Visa/Mastercard credit and debit card as well as by electronic check. Payments by check, money order, and cashier’s check are also accepted, but mailed payments will take longer to process. Emeritus and resigned members no longer need to renew their licenses.  

State Bar offices will be closed for Thanksgiving and the weekend November 27-30, but the online renewal system will remain open and available. 

The State Bar of Michigan administers the license renewal process and distributes the funds as directed by the Michigan Supreme Court. Mandatory fees paid by Michigan attorneys fund the State Bar of Michigan, the Attorney Discipline System, and the Client Protection Fund.
