SBM’s May MiLawyer Podcast explores the role of storytelling in the legal profession

Storytelling isn’t just an art form. It is a skill, and an important one for attorneys to learn and foster as they move through their legal careers.

In the May episode of the State Bar of Michigan’s new MiLawyer Podcast, Michael J. Steinberg — a civil rights attorney, law professor, storyteller with NPR’s “The Moth Radio Hour,” and this year’s GLLC keynote speaker — explores how storytelling intersects with the legal profession and how law schools are integrating skills like storytelling into legal education.

Learn how he balances his career responsibilities, his personal responsibilities, and his overall well-being.

The State Bar of Michigan launched MiLawyer Podcast in April 2026, as another tool to help Michigan attorneys improve their practice and protect their well-being. Hosted by Molly Ranns, the director of SBM’s Lawyer & Judges Assistance Program, and Savanna Polimeni, SBM’s practice management counsel, each episode runs approximately 30 minutes and features a legal expert who discusses a topic relevant to the legal profession, with attorney well-being as a repeat theme.
