Learn how firms can simplify license renewals
Consolidated Billing is an online License Renewal tracking and payment system that streamlines the License Renewal process for firms or organizations with at least five staff attorneys.
Consolidated Billing makes paying license fees faster and easier. Plus, it is the only way firms can pay fees online, which is recommended by the State Bar of Michigan. Mailing payments is no longer recommended due to new U.S. Postal Service rules that can delay when mail is postmarked. (See Warning below)
WARNING: The U.S. Postal Service no longer postmarks mail the day it is sent (unless you take it inside to a service counter and specifically request a same-day postmark). The $50 late fee will be assessed on all payments not received or postmarked by the post office by 11:59 p.m. November 30, 2026 — regardless of the day it was mailed. The State Bar of Michigan recommends online payment to ensure your payment is received on time. You can pay online using a check at no additional cost.
Many of Michigan’s largest firms are already enjoying the simplified fee payment option, and current participants overwhelmingly report they are highly satisfied with the Consolidated Billing program and would recommend it to other firms.

Reasons to choose Consolidated Billing:
- Pay your attorneys’ fees online! Consolidated Billing is the only way to pay online for multiple attorneys at the same time.
- Avoid the hassle of collecting remittance documents (or going through a reimbursement process).
- Pay license fees quickly, easily, and accurately. Pay in one bulk payment or multiple payments as often as you choose. We accept online payments using ACH, e-check, and credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express).
- Choose what fees you are willing to pay for your attorneys (IAP enrollment, section dues, and voluntary donations). Attorneys will be billed directly for any fees you choose not to pay.
- See updates on attorneys’ renewal status to avoid unnecessary late fees.
- Retrieve payment information easily to streamline internal accounting.
Consolidated Billing is not open to individual attorneys. Attorneys are encouraged to talk to their finance department or others who pay bills to discuss Consolidated Billing as an option.
