Michigan attorneys report more than 36,000 hours of pro bono service

The State Bar of Michigan recently released its 2026 A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll in celebration of the attorneys and legal organizations helping to expand access to justice across Michigan.

More than 1,000 Michigan attorneys reported 36,416 hours of pro bono legal services for the 2026 Honor Roll, which recognizes service hours reported from 2025.

The honor roll recognizes individual attorneys, law firms, and corporations that support access-to-justice efforts by providing pro bono legal services to low-income individuals and families throughout Michigan. Some attorneys submit their 2025 pro bono service hours for reporting purposes only and are not included in the published Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll highlights law firms and corporations that reported a per-attorney average of 30, 50, or 100+ hours of pro bono legal services as well as firms and corporations that provided at least 100 cumulative hours of services.

Attorneys are recognized in the honor roll if they report 30, 50, or 100+ hours of qualifying pro bono legal services.

Applications for the 2027 Honor Roll, which will recognize pro bono hours provided during the 2026 calendar year, will open in January 2027.
