Coming soon: 2026-2027 license renewal opens in September

Michigan attorneys can begin renewing their licenses for the 2026-2027 Bar year starting after Labor Day. Active and inactive members of the State Bar of Michigan will receive email notices when the system opens and it is time to renew.

Notices will be sent to the email address on file with the State Bar of Michigan. Attorneys will continue to receive reminders until they complete their renewal including answering mandatory disclosure and paying fees to fund the Attorney Discipline System, Client Protection Fund, and State Bar of Michigan. Members also can join SBM sections as part of the renewal process.

In the meantime, all Michigan attorneys are asked to confirm that their contact information on file with the State Bar of Michigan is up to date. To confirm your contact information, log into the Member Area at michbar.org/MemberArea. Under the Profile heading, click "Manage" to check and/or edit your contact information.

The Rules Concerning the State Bar of Michigan require attorneys to keep their current email address and physical address on file with the State Bar of Michigan. SBR 2(A)
