U.S. Eastern District Proposed Amendments to Local Rules
On September 8, 2026, the Judges of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan approved the publication of proposed amendments to the following local rules:
- LR 7.1, Motion Practice
- LR 15.1, Form of a Motion to Amend and Its Supporting Documentation
- LR 72.1, United States Magistrate Judges
In order to be assured consideration, comments in writing, which may include recommended changes to the proposed amendments, should be received no later than November 6, 2026. Comments may be sent to Local_Rules@mied.uscourts.gov or to Local Rules, 539 Theodore Levin United States Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan 48226. If comments are sent via email, it is not necessary to send another copy via postal mail.
