MiLawyer Podcast: An update on attorney wellbeing with Patrick Krill

There’s no doubt that attorneys are under a lot of stress that can often lead to burnout and wellbeing issues, and now we have data-driven insights that prove it.
The Survey of Lawyer Well-Being, released in September 2026, is the largest survey ever conducted on attorney mental health — providing important insights into work-related burnout in attorneys and expanding on a landmark 2016 study of lawyer mental health and substance use conducted with the support of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs.
Dive deeper into the findings in the October episode of MiLawyer Podcast with Patrick Krill, who is co-author of the study as well as both an attorney and board-certified addiction counselor — and learn more about how lawyer assistance programs can help.
Produced by the State Bar of Michigan, MiLawyer Podcast helps Michigan attorneys improve their practice and protect their well-being. Listen and subscribe to MiLawyer Podcast wherever you get your podcasts. Current and past episodes also are available at michbar.org/Podcast.
