A memorial service has been planned to remember Drew Baker, the State Bar of Michigan’s general counsel since 2022. Baker was a dedicated colleague who provided legal guidance and support to the Board of Commissioners, executive director, staff, committees and sections.

Baker, who was the first Black woman to serve as general counsel for the Bar, was widely known for both her kindness and her professionalism.

“Drew had a kind heart and genuinely cared about the people she worked with and the work we do. She was always willing to work hard, work with others, and learn more,” said Peter Cunningham, executive director of the State Bar of Michigan. “Her dedication, legal guidance, and presence made a lasting impact on our entire team. She will be missed dearly.”

Visitation is set for 2-3 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, located at 2600 Crooks Road in Troy. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Read Drew Baker’s full obituary here.
