Retired administrative law judge Charles “David” Jones was named the State Bar of Michigan’s recipient for the John W. Cummiskey award. This award is meant to recognize a Michigan attorney who has contributed a significant amount of his or her time to pro bono services. David Jones volunteers his time with Elder Law of Michigan as a “Hotline Attorney” twice a week since his retirement in 2013. In this position, he provides legal advice to seniors in a wide range of legal issues. In the publication of Advancing Smartly, Elder Law of Michigan stated, “without David’s service, these seniors may not have had access to any legal services.” He shares his time, knowledge, and expertise with the staff and clients.

John W. Cummiskey was an attorney who practiced in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was an advocate for increasing the availability of legal services to all socioeconomic groups.
