State Bar of Michigan staffer sworn in as president of National Association of Bar Professionals

Gregory P. Conyers, Director of Diversity Development at the State Bar of Michigan, was recently sworn in as president of the National Association of Bar Professionals (NABE) for the 2025-2026 year.

A graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Conyers has been with SBM since 2002, starting as a pro bono administrator before becoming the director of justice initiatives. He subsequently became SBM’s first director of diversity in 2007, specifically focusing on SBM's efforts and commitment to diversity in the legal profession. He is also a staff liaison to SBM’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee and the American Indian Law Committee.

Conyers will be the first Black person to serve as NABE president. As president, he hopes to strengthen existing collaborations between NABE and other organizations, such as the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association, working toward common goals including supporting the rule of law and protecting the public.
