Oakland County Bar Ass'n: New Arraignment Proceedings Under MIDC

This is mandatory training for attorneys receiving criminal appointments. The new Michigan Indigent Defense Commission Standards mandate continual representation by counsel at every court appearance throughout an indigent defendant's case, including arraignment. Find out how Oakland County Circuit and district courts plan to adhere to these rules starting January 1, 2019. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Oakland County's plan to enforce approved and proposed standards and how it will affect appointed counsel practice
  • An overview of the jail and procedures in place once defendants arrive
  • Differences in arraignment procedures before and after MIDC
  • Access to pre-trial services
