The MAJ is hosting a Workers’ Compensation/Social Security Seminar from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, January 17 at Four Points by Sheraton located at 27000 S. Karevich Drive in Novi. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the seminar starts at 9 a.m. Co-moderators will be William Watkinson, Bernstein & Bernstein PC, Lathrup Village; Jeffrey Kaufman, Berman & Kaufman, PC, Farmington Hills; Andrea Hamm, Miller Cohen, PLC, Detroit, and; Sean Shearer, Charters, Tyler, Zack & Shearer, P.C., Troy. Topics to be covered include: legislative developments, state of the Worker’s Compensation Law; traumatic brain injuries and neuropsychological evaluations; view from the Supreme Court with Justice Megan Cavanagh, Michigan Supreme Court; national workers’ compensation issues; federal Social Security disability insurance appeals; state Social Security disability insurance of the law; and employment law issues. Rates to attend (if registered by January 2) are $195 for MAJ members and $100 for MAJ student and paralegal members, $155 for MAJ members practicing 3 years or less, $100 for MAJ sustaining members, $475 for non-MAJ members (includes digital handbook).
