The Mid-Winter Meeting offers Section members timely and informative education programs, the opportunity to catch up with colleagues from around the state over cocktails and dinner, and an opportunity to honor those who have served the Section through distinguished service.

Please save the date so you can be sure to attend. In the coming months, the Council will be providing you more information on event specifics and how to register.

In conjunction with the Mid-Winter Meeting, the Section also is inviting nominations for its 2016 Distinguished Service Award that will be presented at dinner. We hope you will take this opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of a colleague who is deserving of the award.

Please send the name(s) of all nominees and a statement as to their qualifications for the award to the attention of Gloria Hage at ghage@emich.edu no later than November 18, 2016.

Below is the criteria on which the Award is based, along with a list of past honorees.

The Distinguished Service Award will be conferred upon an individual who has met the qualifications described below for a period of twenty years or more. The award honors a lawyer who has demonstrated, through long performance related to the practice of labor and employment law, that he or she meets the following criteria:

• Has made major contributions to the practice of labor and employment law
• Reflects the highest ethical principles, including principles of civility and professionalism
• Has advanced the development of labor and employment law
• Has a long-established commitment to excellence
• Is recognized and respected by constituents in the labor and employment community
