From the Docks to the Grand Hotel

Once you arrive on the island, look for one of the Grand Hotel’s horse-drawn carriages, or any of the many horse-drawn taxis (which are generally available between 8 am and 5 pm), for your leisurely ride up to the Grand Hotel. After 5 pm, a taxi may be arranged in advance of your arrival by contacting the Mackinac Island Taxi Company directly at 906-847-3323, subject to availability. The cost is $8.50 – $11.00 per person per way, cash only. Children age 5-12 years are half the fare. If you prefer, the Grand Hotel is a 15- to 20-minute uphill walk from the boat docks.

Your luggage will be tagged at the ferry dock and transferred to the Grand Hotel. When you check-in, present your luggage tags at the front desk. Your bags will be delivered directly to your room. Check-in starts at 4 p.m.

Tip: If you are arriving close to 6:30 p.m., you may want to bring your evening wear to the hotel because luggage transfer may take up to three hours to get to the hotel from the dock.
